Blogger vs Tumblr

I haven't used blogger for years.  My old blogs on here date back to an art project I did as part of my second year of university that quickly lost its way and was replaced with other, more personal projects.  Shortly after this endevor I began a tumblr blog.  This has since evolved into two blogs and I view these as being 'My website'.  However I am currently working on a 'proper' website which will link to my blogs and help me to publicise my children's workshops.

So why have I started this blog?

There are many illustrators and artist's whose work I admire, and whose blogs I find particularly inspiring who use blogger, (Lynne Chapman, for example) and I can follow these better through having a blogger account.  I feel that my main tumblr blog would probably be more suited to this format that to tumblr, particularly as tumblr is more of a visual forum that a text based one.  So I'm going to experiment with using both formats, and find out which works best for me.

So a little about me; I am a graduate from a Fine Art Degree at Brighton University.  Since graduating I've had a love hate relationship with the art world, my art and art in general; call it a career crisis.  However, 18 months after finishing my degree I have come to terms with what I want to do, I don't want to make the art I was making at university.  I want to draw the 'pretty pictures' my Mum keeps nagging me to do, and not because I want to give in to my mother, because thats what I enjoy doing.  I also love working with children. (see my tumblr posts about my children's workshops).  I am currently working on devolping the two and increasing my illustrative portfolio.  This is easier said than done when I work 6 days a week and am in the process of buying a flat.  It's all been moving much slower than I would like, but I won't let that deter me!

Anyway enough boring rambling.  Here are some pretty pictures to make up for it!

oh and you can currently buy t-shirts of my drawings here:
